July Youth Group Party

Every first Sunday of the month Lyle and I host a youth group party at our house instead of having the typical youth group service at church. This past Sunday we cooked hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill and we also savored the last Chick-Fil-A Cheesecake on Earth (well maybe not on the entire planet but close to it 🙂 ) See, Chick-Fil-A stopped making their cheesecakes and replaced it with different desserts that are now on their menu. But before they sold out Lyle and I bought the last one at the Riverdale City Store (one of the perks of having a husband that works at Chick-Fil-A) and kept it for this youth group party!

We also enjoyed each others company playing games such as S.P.L.A.T. If you have never heard of the game S.P.L.A.T. here’s the explanation: Each player receives a number that is theirs the entire game. When a player throws the ball in the air they yell out a number. If that number is yours, you try to catch the ball as quickly as possible. If that number is not yours, your goal is to run away as quickly as possible. Once the person who’s number was called catches the ball they yell “Splat”. Once they yell “Splat” everyone else must freeze where they are. The person with the ball then tries to hit one of the other players with the ball. If they miss they receive and “S”. If they hit someone, the person hit receives an “S”. And on it goes until everyone but one player (the winner) has spelled S.P.L.A.T. I didn’t take any pictures of the group playing S.P.L.A.T. because I was too busy playing it myself :), but if I can remember to take some next time we play I will put them up.

Here are some pictures from the party:

Some of the group decided to start snacking on chips while waiting for the food to finish.
The grill master, Lyle, cooking the hot dogs and hamburgers! They were yummy!

Some people had to set on the deck instead of in chairs 🙂 Lyle and I really should buy some more chairs.

We even had some background music while we hung out 🙂
