I let the day go by

One of my favorite songs is “The World Spins Madly On” by The Weepies.  Of course, I am not really sure why it is one of my favorites, because to be honest it is a little depressing.  If you have never heard it here are the lyrics:
Woke up and wished that I was dead
With an aching in my head
I lay motionless in bed
I thought of you and where you’d gone
and let the world spin madly onEverything that I said I’d do
Like make the world brand new
And take the time for you
I just got lost and slept right through the dawn
And the world spins madly on

I let the day go by
I always say goodbye
I watch the stars from my window sill
The whole world is moving and I’m standing still

Woke up and wished that I was dead
With an aching in my head
I lay motionless in bed
The night is here and the day is gone
And the world spins madly on

I thought of you and where you’d gone
And the world spins madly on.

Though it may be a tad bit of a downer, I still cannot help but love it!  Anyway, on to its relevance to my new blog – this song always makes me think about using your life to do something rather than waste it away with “laying motionless in bed” (or on the couch – my personal favorite place to waste the day away).
In this blog I hope to document (and motivate more) productive uses of my time.  As someone who is not predisposed toward either craftiness or culinary genius, I am also using this blog to try to develop these talents.
I hope you enjoy my new blog and feel free to visit mine and my husband’s blog, Our Ministry Journey, as we share our work as youth ministers with the Summit Chapel Youth Group.
