I am so excited about the newest structural change to Summit Chapel’s youth group. On the last Sunday of every month we will have small group meetings, where we are splitting up into guys and girls.
In the guys’ small group they are covering the book of Esther. Although the book of Esther is more often covered in women’s Bible studies, Lyle has decided to use Esther to teach valuable lessons on how to be a Godly guy.
In the girls’ small group we are reading through a book called “Being a Girl Who Leads: Becoming a Leader by Following Christ.” In this book we will look at how to be a Christian girl who stands firm on her beliefs. The author, Shannon Kubiak Primicerio, summarizes this book in saying,
“Being a girl who leads isn’t about being in a ministry or in a labeled leadership role. It’s about how you live your life. The world is full of followers – and our generation is perishing as a result. But God has given you the power to be the change the world so desperately needs to see. It won’t be easy. And it isn’t a one-time task. Being a girl who leads is a daily, moment-by-moment decision to stand up for what is right and forsake what is wrong – no matter the cost.”
I am so excited to start this book with these girls. And I am excited to see what the Lord will teach these teens through this new small group setting.
