Can’t Have it Our Way

I know it’s kind of silly, but as I was cleaning and setting up the room on Sunday for youth service I became really excited. Just thinking about the youth that would sit in that room made the whole thing real. I know it isn’t much but I felt such honor setting up the room knowing that God would be working in that room speaking to the hearts of those teens.

Sunday night’s youth service went well. There were about six teens there (all guys). Everyone listened great! Lyle taught a lesson revolving around Acts 3:19, which says “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” The lesson was about that emptiness that exist without God in our lives. People today try to fill that emptiness with everything from bad things such as drugs and alcohol to good things like work, friends, and family. However, the only thing that can fill that emptiness is God. As humans we always want to do things our way not God’s way. Acts 3:19 calls us to repent from our way and turn to God. Only then will “times of refreshing” come.

This coming weekend is a camping trip and church on the lake. A group of us from church will spend all weekend camping out, and on Sunday the congregation with meet for service at the lake. This is an exciting time because several people are being baptized!

Pray for this weekend that everything goes well and that everyone stays safe. Praise with us that our brother’s and sister’s in Christ are proclaiming their relationship with Christ to the world.
